One man can do nothing. Before anything else he needs help. ...One man can easily deceive himself about his awakening and take for awakening simply a new dream. If several people decide to struggle together against sleep, they will wake each other. It may often happen that twenty of them will sleep but the twenty-first will be awake and he will wake up the rest. — G.I. Gurdjieff

What is offered at Tsogyelgar is not more t.v. dinner spiritual commercialism but rather something more akin to a Mystery School in the classical greek sense. The whole of life is the theatre of alchemical work and the whole human being, including their passions, resistance, wisdom, self lying, fears, strengths. The Tantric Buddhist path is a step by step series of technical methods which function best in an environment overseen by an accomplished adept. The spiritual master and community are a poetry of circumstances in which realization is both accelerated and also tested. This is nto a system for producing the intellectual conceit of non-duality, or hot house flower Buddhas, here the whole human being is transformed, transmuted, translated into an expression of their inherent wisdom bliss.

Contemplation is a free and clear vision of the mind fixed upon the manifestation of wisdom in suspended wonder...— Richard of St. Victor

"The passive attitude attributed to the Oriental mystics is often greatly misunderstood. Theirs is not an attitude of indifference, but one of disassociation through understanding. The greatest discipline is necessary to remove those mental and emotional reactions which are identification. It is through understanding that identification is surrendered. The discipline is so difficult that the man who achieves it has full realization of his fellow man's problems." Rudi

“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.” - Kurt Vonnegut

"How do we develop social systems of human scale within the megalith of modern culture? This is not a job for governments but for each of us in cooperative connection at a human scale. To produce a new form of village structure within modern society where, as Plato advised, we can explore what form of human living best evokes true human potentials. This is what we are doing here at Tsogyelgar and with our community of friends worldwide."  t.k.

"The theory behind not buying spiritual truth is this: One who has it would not be selling it, so one who is selling it doesn't have it. These are the 'pearls without price'. As soon as you are ready for the spiritual truth, it will be given. On the other hand, you are given as you give. But paying a fee is not giving a gift. And you do not need to give to the one from whom you receive, as we are all cells in the body of humanity." Peace Pilgrim

“To build community requires vigilant awareness of the work we must continually do to undermine all the socialization that leads us to behave in ways that perpetuate domination.” belle hooks

Apostolic farming stems from love and is ingenious, creating something out of nothing. It studies how to do a thing more cheaply. Land, animals, tools, and machinery are all seen as holy things and as immensely valuable, inspiring awe at God’s bounty to us. — Catherine Doherty

If you speak well of another, the good will return to you. The good and praise you speak of another you speak in reality of yourself. An analogy would be the planting of flowers and herbs around your house. Every time you look out you see that garden. — Rumi
